INHERITANCE
IMPACT CAMPAIGN
We are working to raise awareness and foster understanding about the challenges faced by children and families caught in cycles of poverty, intergenerational trauma, and substance use disorder.
The campaign will also humanize those struggling with substance use disorder, and act as a catalyst for funding for mental health, recovery services and other critical infrastructure for children and families in rural and underserved communities.
Main film participant Curtis walks along the Pacific Coast in Oregon while taking a break between Impact Campaign screenings.
"Inheritance is both chilling and uplifting. At LSU, we were unbelievably lucky to host a screening and to spend time with Curtis, Amy, and Matt in a discussion afterward. Many students commented after the screening about how it strengthened their resolve in their recovery, and how it fueled their desire to improve their communities." - Adam Singer, LSU Collegiate Recovery
GOALS
Join us! Together we will cultivate a vibrant network of partners, and collaborators working across different disciplines to drive meaningful conversations, support mission-aligned organizations, and encourage action.
(1) We are fostering collaborative partnerships with local NGOs and community groups specializing in mental health, and addiction prevention and recovery to host public screenings in hard hit communities.
(2) We are engaging with institutions of higher education and professional organizations to bring the film to campuses with the goal of impacting students in relevant fields, including healthcare systems, medical schools and professionals working in addiction and mental health fields.
(3) We are establishing relations with organizations working on poverty issues in America. We’ve featured the film at forums such as the Poverty Solutions Speaker Series at the University of Michigan, and will work to bring the film to decision makers in the advocacy and policy areas.
"The film directors, Matt Moyer and Amy Toensing, offered a poignant exploration of the complexities surrounding generational poverty, substance abuse, and the challenges faced by many families in rural Ohio. The engaging discussion with graduate students and community members, led by the directors left the audience with profound insights into the significant obstacles impacting these communities, fostering a deeper understanding of the urgent issues at hand.- Josepth Ryan, University of Michigan
